Who We Are

Our Story

Nyangoma Development Organisation (NYADO) is a community-based organisation (CBO) registered under the Department of Culture and Social Services. We are rooted in the heart of Nyangoma Division, Bondo Sub-County, Siaya County, Kenya.

Our formation was inspired by the desire to unite the people of Nyangoma towards a shared vision of empowerment, education, and sustainable community development.

Since inception, we have served as a grassroots driver for social and economic change, implementing projects that address the real challenges faced by the Nyangoma community — from education, health, and livelihoods, to environmental conservation and social inclusion.

NYADO operates as a non-profit entity that values

Our Journey

NYADO was born out of the need to respond to the growing social and economic challenges within Nyangoma Division. The founders recognised that although there were government and donor-funded projects in the area, most were short-lived and lacked local participation.

To bridge this gap, the community came together to form an organisation that could mobilise local resources, strengthen unity, and coordinate development initiatives that reflect the needs and aspirations of Nyangoma residents.

From a simple idea discussed in community meetings, NYADO has now grown into an organised and legally recognised community movement with well-defined structures and a five-year Strategic Plan (2025–2030) guiding its actions.
