Empowering households through skills, enterprise, and opportunity

Economic empowerment is central to the mission of Nyangoma Development Organisation (NYADO). A community that is economically stable can feed its families, educate its children, and sustain its own development.

Yet, many households in Nyangoma Division continue to face poverty due to limited income opportunities, dependence on subsistence farming, and lack of access to credit facilities.

NYADO’s Economic Empowerment and Livelihoods Program was created to change this reality — by equipping individuals and groups with the tools, skills, and networks they need to build independent and sustainable livelihoods.

Strengthening Household Incomes

We empower community members to take control of their economic futures through:

  • Capacity building in entrepreneurship and financial management

  • Formation and training of savings and credit groups

  • Supporting small-scale enterprises and cooperatives

  • Encouraging diversification of income sources

By nurturing local enterprise and financial literacy, NYADO is helping families transition from survival to stability — and ultimately to prosperity.

Empowering Women and Youth

Women and youth form the economic backbone of Nyangoma, yet they have historically faced barriers to accessing capital and training.

Through targeted interventions, NYADO ensures that these groups have equal access to financial resources and business skills. Our programs include:

  • Linking women groups to microfinance institutions such as KWFT and Caritas.

  • Offering youth mentorship in entrepreneurship, agribusiness, and innovation.

  • Encouraging participation in cooperative ventures and group savings schemes.

These initiatives not only uplift individual lives but also strengthen the overall economic resilience of Nyangoma Division.

“When women and youth thrive economically, the whole community rises.”

Agribusiness and Sustainable Livelihoods

We train farmers on: Modern and sustainable crop production Poultry and livestock management Value addition and food processing Market access and agribusiness entrepreneurship By blending traditional knowledge with modern techniques, NYADO is helping farmers increase productivity while protecting the environment.

Partnerships and Market Linkages

Through partnerships with financial institutions, government departments, and private sector stakeholders, NYADO connects small-scale entrepreneurs to funding, training, and markets. These collaborations help ensure that local businesses can grow, scale, and contribute to the economic well-being of the entire community.
