Healthy people, strong communities — together we build a Nyangoma that thrives

Good health is the foundation for productive and sustainable development. In Nyangoma Division, access to healthcare and social support has long been limited by poverty, distance, and lack of awareness.

Nyangoma Development Organisation (NYADO) recognises that without healthy people, no community can truly progress. That’s why one of our core focus areas is Health and Social Protection — ensuring that every resident, regardless of age, gender, or social status, has access to information, care, and dignity.

Our work combines preventive health education, community outreach, and social support for vulnerable groups, creating a stronger and more resilient Nyangoma.

Promoting Health Awareness

NYADO conducts community health awareness campaigns that address key issues affecting local residents, such as:

Be Part of Nyangoma’s Healthy Future

You can help us reach more families with health education and support. Join our next outreach, sponsor sanitation initiatives, or donate medical supplies.

Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH)

Clean water and proper sanitation are essential to health and dignity. NYADO partners with local leaders and development agencies to improve access to safe water and promote hygienic practices. We encourage the construction of latrines, handwashing facilities, and rainwater harvesting systems in schools and households.

Caring for the Vulnerable

Social protection is at the heart of NYADO’s mission. Many families in Nyangoma struggle to support orphans, widows, the elderly, and persons living with disabilities. We provide psychosocial support and link vulnerable groups with government and donor-funded social assistance programs. By doing this, we ensure that no one is left behind in the development journey. Community-based care and counselling programs also help families rebuild emotional strength and social cohesion.

Partnerships for Better Health

NYADO collaborates with:

  • Local health facilities for outreach and screenings

  • Community Health Volunteers (CHVs) for door-to-door sensitisation

  • County Government of Siaya for health and sanitation programs

  • Faith-based organisations to expand the reach of health education

These partnerships amplify our impact and ensure that interventions are sustainable and well-coordinated across Nyangoma Division.

Our Interventions Include:
  • Organising medical camps and outreach clinics

  • Training community health promoters

  • Conducting nutrition awareness and child health campaigns

  • Supporting elderly care initiatives and disability inclusion programs

Our Goal

To enhance the overall well-being of Nyangoma residents through improved health awareness, access to care, and social protection for vulnerable members of the community.
