Maurice Nyunja Otieno is a carrier environmentalist and a realist who after years of service as a public servant have settled back home where he was born and brought up and spent his early life of schooling. Maurice was accredited with some transformational changes brought about by the institution he work for while in public service including the plastic ban. After being away from home for the latter part of his schooling, work and having travelled all the continents, visited 20 Countries 31 cities, and seen how serious the rest of the world is.Maurice came to a long drawn conclusion that not much have changed in his rural village, this must change and he has to be part of that change.

 Nango dispensary still serves the community as the only public dispensary in Central Sakwa, while the population has more than tripled. The muddy water of ‘yaw Kachila ‘still is the main source of water for my community. Bush and thicket still covers most of the spaces in the neighbourhood. No commercial crop not even a commercial tree crop is available for farmers. Indigenous livestock still roams the village giving out one litre of milk per day and the bulls disposed at 30,000/- after 10 years of grazing, and after parting with 7000/- per month for a caretaker.

That is why Maurice has developed a burning desire to do something, give back to community for the period God still wants him to be around. Maurice has therefore decided to join like-minded sons and daughters of the soil willing to drive the agenda of change and livelihood improvement. Maurice is a members of Nyangoma Development and Empowerment Resource Centre. With the knowledge, experience and the strong will, the record books and the history books must write new chapters of the area, and in this no one will be left behind.
