Mr. Romlus Ochola Gawala hails from Bonde village, Nyang’oma Division, South Sakwa ward in Siaya County. He is a member of Nyangoma Development and Resource Centre, a CBO aimed at changing the lives of the rural populace in the digital space in the face of climate change and variability. Mr. Ochola has participated in advancing space technology both in Kenya and in Africa, and as a teacher have touched the lives of many people. He has experience in geospatial technology especially in Remote Sensing and GIS which are key in mapping natural resources, digital image processing and applying Earth Observation technology in monitoring the global changes in natural resources. As a soil and water engineer, Mr. Ochola has specialized in water harvesting and storage, flood control and providing irrigation system designs to small holder farmers tailored to climate smart agriculture. He promotes sustainable food systems programs for small-holder farmers especially in ASALA areas in Kenya.
